本文讲述了Java线程池executorService中submit方法与execute方法的区别并且对两个方法源码进行简单阅读了解

发现在Executors.callable(runnable, result)方法中通过适配器将Runnable转换成了Callable并将转换后的Callable设置到了FutureTask类中callable属性中(如果submit方法传入的是一个callable对象则不需要装饰器进行装饰)

注意FutureTask继承于Runnable且内部组合了一个Callable

在catch代码块中将异常ex传入了setException方法且未抛出,这也是为什么使用submit方法提交的线程无法报错抛异常的原因,继续查看setException方法

发现将异常信息ex赋予属性outcome,并在get方法是通过report方法返回,也就是说如果使用submit提交的线程如果需要查看异常信息需要使用future.get()方法获取

经过装饰后的runnable变成RunnableFuture对象后会被传入执行execute方法

进一步查看runWorker方法发现task.run()就是执行我们submit/execute方法传入的任务,且task.run()使用try-catch代码块包围并且将异常抛出,这也是为什么execute方法会抛出异常的原因,另外由于submit方法将传入任务封装成了futureTask而futureTask类的run方法将异常在内部捕获而未抛出这也是为什么submit方法不会抛出异常的原因

总结

  • submit方法与execute方法的区别是 submit方法将传入的线程对象(runnable/callable)进行封装成了futureTask(如果为runnable会通过适配器模式runnableAdapter将runnable转换为futureTask中的callable),该对象将run方法进行重写并内部不抛出异常导致submit方法不打印报错

  • execute方法执行的是开发者自己写的run方法且该run方法做异常捕获处理,如果出异常会立刻抛出

  • 推测submit用于提交callable等存在返回值的线程对象,因为要获取返回值必须调用future.get()方法,这时如果存在异常就会通过get()返回
